Nine Kinds of Naughty (Art of Passion, #3)Nine Kinds of Naughty by Jeanette Grey

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4star

Genre:  BDSM Erotica

I adore Jeanette Grey’s writings – unfortunately, I don’t love BDSM. So while I enjoyed this book, I skimmed some of the smexy times because I just couldn’t get into it. That’s not the fault of the author, but of my reading preference. I can’t wait to read the next in her series, hopefully about the third sibling, Ethan.

The story revolves around Lexie, a workaholic who’s struggled to gain the approval of her family for her entire life. Her newest assistant, Dane is built like a linebacker, with a face that drops panties. The attraction between the two simmers, but come Friday evening, Dane is off the clock and wants to do anything but work in the stifling office.

When Lexie decides to try and buyout a Spanish company, she delivers the news that Dane needs to accompany her for however long the trip will last. The pair just can’t resist the attraction when left on a private plane, all by themselves.

The story was interesting, the characters compelling and the plot was well paced. There are lots of sexy times between the pair that steam up the pages.

I recommend this entire series – so while you can read this as a stand alone, why would you want to when there are two others to enjoy as well?

Nose in a Book Reviews: Beyond Innocence by @KitRocha

Displaying header1.jpg

For years, Jared has existed on the fringes of both Eden society and Dallas O’Kane’s Sector Four gang. He travels between these worlds, protected by his money and power–money he earned selling his body, and power that comes from knowing secrets. He’s untouchable—until he starts a new life gathering intelligence for the O’Kanes.

Lili Fleming walked out of Sector Five with a gun, the bloodstained clothes on her back, and an icy determination to survive. She finds herself in a world where people live hard and love harder, and nothing’s more terrifying than how much the O’Kanes wake her up, make her feel—especially Jared.

Emotion is a risk he can’t afford, and a complication she doesn’t need. But neither can resist the lust simmering between them, and the sparks that could either melt the ice around both their hearts…or get them killed. Because the only thing more dangerous than loving an O’Kane is loving a spy.

nose in a book review

Another magical O’Kane story. This one is about the resident gigolo, Jared and the queen of Sector 5, Lili Fleming. Jared has been avoiding becoming an O’Kane forever, instead choosing to live symbiotically with the gang. Suddenly we realize he’s actually been working with Dallas as a spy, gathering up intel that can only come when a sexually satisfied lady’s lips become a little too loose with information.

Lili is feeling like an outsider, walking around in a haze of drugs she’d managed to keep after escaping from Sector 5 in the last book. She’s about the run out of her last doses and is frightened to start feeling things again. She’s confused by the passion and satisfaction O’Kane women get from having sex, something she’s never done, but have always been told is more of a chore than pleasurable for the lady. She’s inextricably drawn to Jared, the clean cut and well-dressed prostitute, he reminds her of Sector 5 in its skewed version of perfection, with one glaring exception. He makes her feel safe.

When Jared decides to give up prostitution and grow his spy ring by opening up a bar in the heart of Eden, effectively snubbing the councilman and all they hold dear. By doing this, he suddenly has a price on his head and there’s only one person who will risk her own life to save his.

This story is another amazing piece to the Beyond saga. Each tale draws me in more and more to the messed up, yet fascinating world Kit Rocha has created. If you haven’t read the series, I highly recommend reading them in order to really capture the full experience that is The O’Kanes.

Can’t wait for the next book to see what wild ride they’ll take us on next.

Nose in a Book Reviews: Her Best Laid Plans by @caramckenna

Her Best Laid PlansHer Best Laid Plans by Cara McKenna

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 star program biotechnology calendar

Genre: Erotic Romance / Novella

I pretty much always love Cara’s stories. This one didn’t disappoint. I LOVED it.

This novella length story is based around Jamie Webb who finds herself in the countryside of Ireland all by herself when her traveling companion suddenly can’t make it. Nursing a broken heart, she finds herself in a local pub in search for an adventure. She never in her wildest dreams figured she’d run into Conner Kelleher in the creaky old place filled mostly with locals twice her age.

A simple bet over a game of snooker takes on a hot and steamy twist when the winner gets a kiss. And whoo-wee… that kiss turns into so much more.

Jamie is finally done putting her life on hold for the man she loves, and while meeting Conner is a nice little addition to her trip, she’s determined to not let their budding relationship stall the plans for herself. This causes the main conflict between the two.

I really liked how Cara brought emotional depth to these characters all the while still bringing the sexy times in her usual fantastic way. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Connor and figured out his story, but in the novella length, that makes it difficult to tell more than one person’s story.

If you’re looking for a quick, sexy and well written story based in the Emerald Isle, this book is for you. Really enjoyed this and highly recommend.

Marked (Beyond, #3.5; Thompson & Sons, #1)Marked by Lauren Dane

My rating: 4 1/2 of 5 stars

4-and-one-half-star-rating

Genre: LGBT/Menage/Poly Erotica

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of Marked.

First let me say that I wanted this arc based solely on Beyond Temptation being in this anthology. I have really loved reading Kit Rocha’s Beyond series and this one did not disappoint. I was honestly happily surprised by finding a hidden treasure in Rocky Ride.

Beyond Temptation 5 stars
This is the story about Noah and Emma. We’ve met Noah previously in the series. He was best friends with Emma’s brother before his tragic death. Noah blames himself and spent a fortune to ensure Emma was safely tucked away from the horrible and dangerous world in the sectors. Except, she wasn’t. All that money didn’t help Emma escape, instead she found her way into the O’Kane gang. She serves as a bartender and Ace’s tattoo apprentice. When Noah finds out Emma’s been right under his nose in Sector 4 this whole time, he’s enraged.

Emma is equally upset, not understanding why Noah dropped out of her life when she needed him most. When they finally get together, to talk and *cough* have extremely smutty and hot-as-hell sex.

SUPER HOT & extremely well written novella. This story alone is worth the price of this anthology.

Rocky Ride 4.5 stars
This is the first story in Vivian Arend’s new Thompson & Sons series. I’ve never read Arend’s work before and I have to say I was extremely impressed with her writing.

The story is about bad boy biker and mechanic, Mitch Thompson and his frequent booty call, the upstanding, officer Anna. The pair have been having a secret love affair. One night, Mitch asks Anna for more. He wasn’t more out of their relationship than just sex. She reluctantly accepts his offer and for a while it works. They’re both happy and in love, until Mitch changes his mind and breaks it off suddenly. Of course Anna’s brothers aren’t too happy with him and being the resident bad guy he takes the bad rap gracefully.

I really enjoyed this story and man, oh man was it HOT! I can’t wait to read the rest of Arend’s work.

All that Remains – 3.5 stars

This last story in the anthology, was pretty hot, but after a while got kind of repetitive and a little too sunshine and roses by the end.

The story is set in a dystopian future where much of the population was wiped out by a disease and very few females remain. The solution to this lopsided problem is threesomes, of course.

Summer’s been living in a community for a while now and has been comfortably living among the group and dating when she felt like it. Then in come the seasonal workers and she runs in to a handsome and charming man, Charlie. The connection is instantaneous, but Charlie is already in a committed relationship with another man. He invites Summer to have dinner with him and his partner to see if they might be able to all get along together. When Summer’s long lost first love, Hatch walks in. Summer can’t believe it and at first the reunion is a happy one, but eventually she remembers Hatch’s betrayal when he left her years ago.

The trio eventually gets through their differences and there is some very hot & sexy times ahead. My problem is that it felt a little bit forced & repetitive at times and at the very end, the sunshine and roses was just a bit too much for me.

Nose in a Book Reviews – The Market Garden Series by Witt & Voinov

Quid Pro Quo (Market Garden, #1)Quid Pro Quo by L.A. Witt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three-star-rating

Genre – Erotic LGBT Romance  – M/M

Well.. that was a hot little read. It was pretty short, but the author did a good job giving us enough story to want to read more of these characters. Hot m/m sexy times.

Jared is selling sex at Market Garden, a club that caters to only the wealthiest of clientele. In his spare time, Jared enjoys keeping a keen eye on fellow rent-boy Tristan. Just as Jared is about to chat up Tristin, a businessman inquires about something a little different. He books both Jared & Tristan and what happens after is pretty damn hot. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Take It Off (Market Garden, #2)Take It Off by L.A. Witt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three-star-rating

Genre: Erotic LGBT Romance – M/M

Take it Off is another hot read. The second book in this series is told all from Tristan’s pov, and I think I liked Jared’s voice better in Quid Pro Quo.

In this one, Tristan and Jared are back, doing their thing for Rolex. In this one it’s Tristan’s turn to be teased by Jared. This book had a bit more of an emotional connection than the first, but the steam factor was just as hot.

Really enjoying this series. Hoping for the future installments to be a little longer. Would like a bit more connection for these characters & to get to know the world a bit better.

If It Flies (Market Garden, #3)If It Flies by L.A. Witt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Three-star-rating

Genre: Erotic BDSM LGBT Romance

The third novella in the Market Garden series and it is the tale about closeted lawyer Spencer. He is introduced to the Market Garden by his colleague/friend, Percy. As soon as he enters the club he spots a hot blond, Nick. He’s the club’s resident dominant and with a bit of wooing, take Spencer to a world he didn’t even know he needed.

Spencer is soon one of Nick’s regular clients, meeting him every Friday for his regularly scheduled BDSM session. Spencer is awkward and a look, but takes to Nick’s guidance with grace and ease. Nick appears cold and calculating, but is a caring and nurturing dom. This book really showed the give and take of a Dom/Sub relationship. It was refreshing to a truly consensual take on this type of relationship. Nick really was concerned about Nick’s well being and exactly how much he could take in one session.

The book is really hot and steamy, and my only real complaint is that we don’t really see these two really forge the non-business side of their relationship until the very end. I would have liked to have seen that a bit more.

Really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for more.

If It Fornicates (Market Garden, #4)If It Fornicates by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4star

Genre: Erotic BDSM LGBT Romance

Ah… another fabulous read in the Market Garden series. This one picks up after If It Flys and is told in Nick’s POV and I really enjoyed his voice. The glimpses of his trust issues broke my heart.

In this story, Nick is trying to come to terms with how to be a boyfriend and a Rent Boy. Ultimately he comes to the decision that he really can’t do both, and the story is about how he comes to that realization.

Nick’s work is starting to suffer because of his relationship with Spencer. He finds that he’s not a focused as he should be, and an unfocused Dom, is not someone you to be a Sub for. I like how Nick becomes a more fleshed out character in this one. His evolution as a person, as a boyfriend and even as a Dom was really refreshing. He relinquishes a bit of control to Spencer, something that he doesn’t part with lightly. Spencer is quietly patient and allows Nick to come to terms with everything in his own time. I love that about him. Granted, he has way more patience that I would ever have in the same situation, but he knows what he wants and has the confidence in himself and the relationship to allow things to progress the way it needed to be.

Bravo to Witt & Voinov – another really excellent and hot read. Looking forward to what you two come up with next.

Capture & Surrender (Market Garden, #5)Capture & Surrender by L.A. Witt

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, another satisfying read from the Market Garden series.

This one tells the tale of Frank, the owner of the Market Garden.
He suddenly finds himself short of one rentboy when someone quits. Carlos, the bartender brings in someone he KNOWS Frank will like. In walks tall and hunky military man, Stephan. Frank’s immediately turned on the by mysterious man. The pair form a friendship and Frank takes Stephan to a paintball game that gives a whole new meaning to leaving it all on the field. Aside from the sexual antics on and off the field, the pair dance around each other like the Maypole. When Frank finally reveals his deep dark secret, it is so delicately woven into the story and so carefully handled.

And then there’s Stephan, man, oh man I do love a well written military man. He is so kind and gentle with Frank, it really was just lovely to read. Not only that, but WOOOWeee it was a steamy read as well. I’m coming to learn that these authors do NOT disappoint!

Nose in a Book Reviews: Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden

Mine to TakeMine to Take by Cynthia Eden

My rating: 3 1/2 of 5 stars

3 1/2 stars

This book was a bit of a thriller.

The story revolves around Skye Sullivan, a prima ballerina who lost her ability to dance when she was in a devastating car wreck. Fleeing back to Chicago, she leaves her life and memories in New York. For a while She’s been feeling like someone is watching her. When her apartment is broken into, she seeks out the one man she knows who will help and protect her, Trace Weston.

Skye’s stalker begins to ramp up his terrorizing and the story continues to leave you guessing who the perpetrator is. I enjoyed that part of the story a great deal. My main issue with it is that the hero was excessively possessive of Skye. So much so that it might have gotten a four if he wasn’t such an ass. I get that the story needed that tension, but yeah… he was a wee bit too intense for my independent, feminist ass.

All in all, a quick, sexy and suspenseful read.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to like this one more than I actually did. Reading the premise, seeing the cover, I was excited to read it.

Then, somehow it went a bit awry. The story is about executive Katie Warren who goes to the English Countryside to get away and do a little soul searching. She also knows that famous artist Marcus Dane is having a show there and decides to attend. While daydreaming over one of Marcus’ more erotic paintings, she is ends up meeting the artist himself. He sees the longing in her eyes and decides to see if she’s really as turned on as he thinks.

She willingly goes, thinking this might be the chance of a lifetime to be with the handsome artist, but when Marcus’ partner Owen joins the picture, she begins to fret about if she’s really in over her head.

The story moves along quickly and of course, they all fall in love. My main issue with the story is Katie’s internal musings. I’m not sure if I’ve just grown picky after reading so many books, but internal thoughts are a bit of a pet peeve of mine now. A few, are fine, but when it is interspersed every other paragraph, it gets old. Especially when it is a wishy-washy character like Katie.

I will say, I liked Marcus and Owen’s relationship and interaction. It was the time with Katie that felt forced.

All in all, an average read for me. Could have been a really hot and steamy read, but with all Katie’s thoughts, it just really pulled me completely out of the mood.
